Nineteen-year-old Kevin McGuire's dream to meet Taylor Swift is finally coming true.

Last year, Kevin, a high school senior from Stratford, N.J. who was battling a second bout of cancer, made headlines for asking Taylor to his school's prom via a Facebook page that spread rapidly.

Kevin never imagined that Taylor would see his request, but two days later, she responded on her own Facebook page, with an even better offer. "Kevin, I'm so sorry but I won't be able to make it to your prom," she wrote. "But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up ... Would you be my date? Love, Taylor."

Kevin quickly accepted her offer and geared up to be healthy enough to travel to the 2012 awards show, even wearing a medical mask for days before the show to ensure he wasn't catching any germs. But despite his best efforts, two days before he set to leave, he was admitted to the hospital with a high fever and deemed not healthy enough to travel as he desperately waited for a bone marrow transplant. He watched the awards show, and his idol Taylor win twice, from his couch.

Taylor was just as upset about Kevin unable to make last year's show, tweeting to Kevin that she'd make it up to him and even thanking him during her speech for Entertainer of the Year. "Kevin and all your family and your friends, thank you for wanting to take me to the ACMs," she told the crowd.

This year though, Kevin won't be watching from the couch.

Not only is he feeling better -- he successfully got the bone marrow transplant from his little brother -- but he has a second chance at attending the ACM Awards.

Kevin and his family shared the exciting news on their Facebook page, writing on Thursday (April 4), "The president of the award show-Mr. Romeo-has been in touch with our family checking on Kevin since his transplant, and invited us a couple months ago! As soon as we land in Vegas we are meeting up with TAYLOR SWIFT!"

They added, "It is great how this all worked out, it truly came full circle; Kevin is fully healthy this year and will be able to enjoy everything! Thank you for being apart of our journey!"

In an interview with CBS Philly, Kevin and his sister Tori talked about the impact Taylor's had on their lives.

"I think Taylor is one of those people who you don't really see that often. Classy, sweet and kind," he said. Tori agrees. "She's a big part of the reason Kevin survived, too, because she just lifted his spirits so much," she said. "It's kind of like the big finale to this awful dream that we've had."

For Kevin, who has plans to attend West Chester University in the fall, this weekend's trip is the perfect way to wrap up what he's overcome.

"Going through what we've been through ... it's symbolic, in a way," he told the news station. "It started my chapter with my cancer. Now it's behind me; I can close the book on it."

The ACM Awards will air on Sunday night (April 7).
