In the notoriously volatile entertainment business, no one can argue with having an education to fall back on.

Bowen shares the powerful story behind "Warrior," a track she wrote about her experience fighting pediatric cancer and the friends who lost their lives to the disease.

"It was like someone tapped me on the shoulder and said, 'Don't take your eyes off that boy,'" Bowen remembers.

"Battle scars are part of what makes [you] so precious," Bowen says. "I think that's part of my mission with music, too, to reassure people they're not alone."
