A thirst for country music was more than quenched in the desert of Indio, Calif. over the weekend, as the fifth annual Stagecoach music festival brought performances by some of Nashville's finest, including headliners Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood and Kenny Chesney.

The two-day event came to a thrilling close last night (May 1) as the Flatts announced to the crowd the news of Osama bin Laden's demise. While reports of the terrorist's death had begun to circulate during Carrie's performance directly before, the crowd united once they received the news from Jay DeMarcus: "Osama bin Laden, may you rest in pieces." Fittingly, guitarist Joe Don Rooney then sang the national anthem.

Although the news may have slightly overshadowed their set, the boys of Rascal Flatts brought their A-game to the night, performing their hits from 'Praying for Daylight' to 'These Days' to 'Why Wait.'

Carrie took the stage directly before the trio, before the national news had begun to leak into the audience via social media sites. She kept the crowd on their feet with her hits including 'Cowboy Casanova,' and 'Wasted,' then slowed it down for 'Just a Dream,' and 'Temporary Home.' Appropriately, the confirmation of bin Laden's death came via cell phones right as Carrie launched into 'All-American Girl.'

After covering a long set-list of her own songs, Carrie then told the crowd she had thought long and hard about what covers they might like to hear. With that, she rocked out to Aerosmith's 'Walk This Way,' followed by Guns N' Roses 'Paradise City.'

Kenny had the crowd in the palm of his hand, as well, when he closed the first night of the show Saturday (April 30). Despite issues with the sound system, the audience was on their feet singing back every line to the Tennessee native's hits spanning from last week's No. 1 song, 'Live a Little,' to 'Summertime' and 'Beer in Mexico.'

"If you're a girl out there tonight and you hear this voice in the back of your head telling you to dream, I want you to listen to it," the superstar said before performing 'Big Star.' He proceeded to play everything from 'I Go Back,' 'No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem,' and 'Anything But Mine' to 'Livin' in Fast Forward' and 'Somewhere With You.'

Darius Rucker also took the stage Saturday, playing everything from Hootie & the Blowfish hits to Prince's 'Purple Rain.' Whether it was his own 'Don't Think I Don't Think About It' or Hank Williams, Jr.'s 'Family Tradition,' the enthusiastic crowd sang along to every lyric.

Josh Turner had them dancing in the aisles Sunday with 'Your Man,' 'Would You Go With Me' and the ever-appropriate 'Why Don't We Just Dance.' Then he humbly described 'All Over Me' as if it was just some tune that topped the chart last summer before performing the hit.

Chris Young was sans hat but armed with his guitar during his set Saturday afternoon. He covered all the bases from romantic with 'Gettin' You Home,' to the feel-good 'Save Water and Drink Beer,' from his upcoming album, 'Neon.' He garnered the support of the festival when he dedicated his military-themed tune, 'The Dashboard,' to his little sister serving in the Marines.

Easton Corbin kept it country Sunday afternoon, performing covers of Brooks & Dunn's 'Put a Girl In It' and Kenny Chesney's 'Don't Happen Twice.' Of course, he did the same during his own tunes with 'A Little More Country Than That,' 'Roll With It' and 'I Can't Love You Back.'

Steel Magnolia's Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones were having a lot of fun during their set, which included 'Keep On Lovin' You,' 'Just By Being You (Halo & Wings)' and current single 'Last Night Again.' The duo also brought their unique voices to covers such as Kris Kristofferson's 'Help Me Make it Through The Night' and Dwight Yoakam's 'Fast As You.'

Joanna Smith brought a little Georgia to the West Coast with her Southern musical charm. From the 20-somethings anthem, 'Gettin' Married,' to 'Georgia Mud' and the true story of her parents' marriage, 'Borrowed Wedding Dress,' the crowd welcomed her with open arms.

The two-day festival also included performances from Jack Ingram, the Harters, Stealing Angels, the Secret Sisters, Junior Brown, Mel Tillis, Rodney Crowell and Kris Kristofferson.
