Four Country Stars Selected as NHL All-Star Game Celebrity Coaches
The NHL has selected celebrity coaches for its 2016 All-Star Game, and country fans will recognize all four of the big names.
Dierks Bentley, Chris Young, Vince Gill and Charles Kelley will help lead the teams during this year's event, set to take place on Jan. 31 at Nashville's Bridgestone Areana, home of the NHL's Nashville Predators. The four country stars will be joined by NHL head coaches Gerard Gallant of the Florida Panthers, Lindy Ruff of the Dallas Stars, Darryl Sutter of the Los Angeles Kings and Barry Trotz of the Washington Capitals.
The 2016 NHL All-Star Game is going to keep the country community in Music City busy: In addition to their coaching duties, Bentley and Young are also set to perform during a series of free shows on All-Star Weekend (Jan. 28-31), while Gill will also sing the U.S. National Anthem at the All-Star Game.
Other country artists set to take the stage at free shows during All-Star Weekend include Big & Rich, John Hiatt, Aaron Lewis, Lee Brice, Tara Thompson, Kelsea Ballerini and the Eli Young Band. Additional concerts featuring Lonestar, DJ Rock, LoCash, Steven Lee Olsen, DJ DU, Lewis Brice, Ryan Hurd, Craig Wayne Boyd,Tracy Lawrence, Danny Gokey, MercyMe and stars from ABC’s Nashville, including Charles Esten, Clare Bowen and Lennon and Maisy Stella, will take place at the NHL Fan Fair, which is open to ticket holders only.
The 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Game is a three-game tournament played in a 3-on-3 format, with teams representing each division of the NHL. The event will be broadcast live on NBCSN, CBC and TVA Sports beginning at 5PM ET on Jan. 31. The 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition is set to take place on Jan. 30 at 7PM ET and will be broadcast on the same networks.
