Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers to Join Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame
Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers are being inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame.
Larry, Steve and Rudy Gatlin will receive the 2016 Rick Smith Spirit of Texas Award and enter the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, on Jan. 14.
"One of my favorite memories is 'round about 30 years ago, when I got to be a Waggoner cowboy for a day. I'll never forget it," Larry Gatlin says. "I'm sure that I will never forget this night and the great honor that you real cowboys have bestowed on us sorta cowboys. Keep your powder dry."
The Rick Smith Spirit of Texas Award pays tribute to musician Rick Smith, whose music and recordings honored the Western culture that the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame seeks to highlight.
Along with the Gatlins, the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame Class of 2016 includes Jack Brainard, C.W. Cascio, Dr. Charles Graham and Justin McBride. The Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame selects individuals for induction based on their contributions to competition in, business surrounding and support of rodeo and the Texas lifestyle.
Fellow members of the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame include Clay Walker, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson and George Strait. More information can be found at TexasCowboyHallofFame.org.
