Jake Owen Vero Beach Concert Raises $125K for Charity
Jake Owen is in the giving spirit this holiday season. The country star's annual show in his hometown of Vero Beach, Fla., last weekend raised $125,000 for various children's charities. The sold-out show was the last stop on his CMT on Tour Jake Owen: The Summer Never Ends 2012 trek.
All of the concert's proceeds will go to the Jake Owen Foundation, which supports St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and youth organizations in Indian River County, Fla., including Autism Speaks and the Mardy Fish Foundation. Jake has been a longtime supporter of St. Jude's, also donating money from his many StageIt shows to the children's hospital.
"A huge thank you to everyone in Vero Beach Saturday night for an awesome show and helping us raise money for such a great cause," Jake shares. "I can't think of a better way to end the CMT Tour and this amazing year!"
An what an amazing year it has been for Jake. His tour had the most consecutive sold-out shows to date for a CMT-sponsored trek. He's had three consecutive No. 1 singles, and won the ACA award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. Most importantly, the Florida native has started his own family, tying the knot in May with model Lacey Buchanan and welcoming his first child, a baby girl named Pearl, on Thanksgiving day.
