Jake Owen Show Canceled Due to Flu
We're wishing a speedy recovery to Jake Owen, who had to cancel his appearance at the Ten Man Jam, hosted by Houston radio station KILT Wednesday night (Dec. 12). "The One That Got Away" singer was scheduled to appear with Dierks Bentley, Chris Young, Rodney Atkins, Lee Brice and Eli Young Band, among others, at the Bayou Music Center.
"Sorry to my Houston friends ... I'm unfortunately gonna miss you tonight," Jake tweeted Wednesday afternoon. "Laid up with the flu. I'll make it up to ya. You've got my word."
There's no word yet on whether or not this will affect his next scheduled appearance, which is Saturday (Dec. 15). Hopefully the singer will be back on his feet for the show, which takes place in his hometown of Vero Beach, Fla. The new father looked to be on the mend in this photo (below) that he posted on Twitter this morning of him and baby Pearl.
Jake is likely enjoying having some extra time with his little angel, since he's had several tour dates since her birth. "Leaving her to come here was hard," he admitted to CMT at a recent event. "Because I kissed her on her little forehead and said, 'I'll be back,' and I realized I'm gonna be saying that a lot to her. That's going to be so hard."
The 31-year-old had an instant bond with his baby girl, being the first person she met when she entered the world. "I delivered her. I was right there, and I caught her when she came out," he explained. "I've done a lot of cool things in my life. But that, by far, was the coolest thing ever. There's nothing that will ever top that. I don't understand what could be better than that."
