Though school is starting and summer might be winding down, leave it to Jake Owen to keep the good times rolling with new music. On Sept. 25, RCA Records will release Endless Summer, a four-song EP of new tunes with a summertime feel.

"It's been almost a year since our album, Barefoot Blue Jean Night, came out," Jake says. "I started thinking that I really wanted to put out a few new tunes that had a summer vibe. So, we decided to cut four songs and put out an EP entitled Endless Summer. No one ever really wants the summer to end, right? Hopefully, these songs will be ones that keep the party going into the fall and people will crank them up loud when they are out on the water enjoying their own endless summer."

Jake's fans first learned of his plans when he announced the project during his fan club party during CMA Music Fest and gave attendees a preview of the EP by playing the new song "Summer Jam," which was written by veteran hitmaker Craig Wiseman (Tim McGraw's "Live Like You Were Dying," Brooks & Dunn's "Believe") and hot new duo Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley.

In recording the new songs, Jake earns his first executive producer credit, and as far as getting in the trenches in the studio to record the new project, he again turned to Joey Moi, who produced the No. 1 hit singles "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" and "Alone With You," as well as his current single "The One That Got Away."

"Joey Moi's a rock guy from Canada that's done all the Nickelback records," Jake says, admitting that he was both excited and a little apprehensive initially about working with someone different. "It was a really cool experience, but one that I had to find by just testing the water."

The partnership is obviously a success, having produced two No. 1 hits and another single that looks as though it might also reach the summit. "The One That Got Away" is No. 25 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart and No. 26 on Country Aircheck. The music video has received nearly 500,000 views on VEVO.com. (Watch it below.)

Fans can catch Jake's live show as he continues on the Brothers of the Sun tour with Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney, including two nights (Aug. 24 and 25) at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. Jake can also be seen tomorrow (Aug. 16) at the Missouri State Fair and will also be making the rounds at the Appalachian State Fair in Gray, Tenn., Aug 20, and the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville on Aug. 22. "I really love entertaining," Jake tells The Boot. "I like to entertain people. I like to be entertained. So, I feel like that's a huge compliment when people say, 'I didn't know much about your music, but man, your live show was so great that we're fans. We're going to go buy your record.' That's all I'm trying to do day by day, fan by fan."
