Diplo has officially unveiled his dance-ready new treatment "Old Town Road," after debuting the version at his late-night 2019 Stagecoach set with special guests Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus. Press play above to listen to the full song.

The producer and DJ put his own twist on a track that had already been remixed once when, in early April, Cyrus contributed a verse to the original incarnation of "Old Town Road" released by Lil Nas X. Before Stagecoach kicked off, rumors buzzed that the country rapper would be joining Cyrus for the song's first-ever public live performance. While it wasn't a stretch to imagine that the two artists were planning to team up and perform the song, Diplo's assist to the project was an exciting surprise.

Still, the new remix isn't the DJ's first foray into country music. Diplo recently shared "So Long," a country collaboration with singer-songwriter Cam, under the name Thomas Wesley (his birth name is Thomas Wesley Pentz.) According to Varietymany more country collaborations are on the way; the EDM and pop superstar plans to release country songs with a series of collaborators that includes Thomas Rhett, Zac Brown and Sam Hunt.

Since its release, "Old Town Road" has inspired both massive fandom and massive controversy, after its appearance on -- and swift removal from -- the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The song sparked hot debate on social media over whether or not it belonged on country charts, and whether Billboard was racially motivated in its decision to remove the track from those charts. Meanwhile, for the third consecutive week,"Old Town Road" sits at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week of April 27.
