David Nail had one of those pinch-me career moments last week when he stepped up to the mic to sing 'God Bless America' during Game Seven of the World Series between his beloved St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers. And the ending couldn't have turned out any better for the longtime Cards fan, when his team took home their eleventh Series title and he found himself celebrating with thousands of fellow fans and the team members. And though he'll definitely never forget that momentous win or the experience, David says looking back now he just wishes he'd captured it all on tape.

"It was a pretty special two days we were there, and I think the best way I can say it is, for two days I felt like I was 10 again," he tells The Boot. "It was such a thrill, and the great thing about St. Louis being such a great baseball town is people just really eat, sleep and breathe it, and it's such a way of life. I'm out there hugging and slapping hands with people I've never met in my entire life, but we have the one common thing in our hearts and that's being Cardinals fans. It was a really beautiful thing."

Being a huge fan of the team and having to perform at baseball's biggest event proved to be tricky for David, who found it tough to focus after that nail-biting, 11-inning Game Six matchup.

"Game Six, I definitely woke up the next morning with about 36 more gray hairs, and as far as Game Seven it was a very weird and emotional night. You get to the park, and you go through your instructions, and people are telling you where you have to be at certain times. You go out there and you're trying to get to the game as best as possible and you realize how important it is, but you realize you've got this job to do now at a certain point in the game, so it was hard to focus on either one. And next thing I know I'm walking out to this microphone, at my favorite place to watch a game, and I look over in the dugout and see a guy named Tony LaRussa who's been very kind to me and who I've struck up a friendship with in the last few years, and it was just very surreal. I think here in a few days, if I get a chance to sit down and just reflect on it all, I'm gonna pinch myself and be like, 'Why didn't you just hire a video team to just tape all those cool moments?'"

David became buddies with Cards manager Tony LaRussa several years ago and even tried out for the team last year while filming the web-series 'Making the Team' for CMT.com, so needless to say there was a bit of celebrating going on that night with David and some of the team after the Cards took home their 11th World Series title. "Oh yeah, I may have had a couple of Dr. Peppers with a few of them," David admits, laughing. "I won't name any names though."

David will have another reason to celebrate in a couple of weeks when his sophomore album, 'The Sound of a Million Dreams,' is released. The CD features his hit, 'Let It Rain,' which is currently moving up the charts towards the Top 10. He recently wrapped up a string of dates opening for Taylor Swift on her Speak Now tour.
