Craig Wayne Boyd earned the coveted slot as the opening act for Rascal FlattsVegas Riot! residency, and he says that the gig, which wrapped up on March 14, was a dream come true, both for him personally and for his career.

“When I got the call to do the Rascal Flatts show in Vegas, I was beside myself," he says, "because those guys had a song out when I first moved to Nashville, Tenn., and I believe I had it on repeat from the time I hit the Texas border, all the way to the Tennessee border."

The song was "I'm Movin' On," which the Flatts released as a single in October of 2001.

"That was one of those songs that helped me get through a place that I was in in my life," Boyd adds, "and to now have those guys be the ones that are helping me catapult my career, when they were the ones that encouraged me to do it via their songs anyways, is pretty mind-blowing."

Rascal Flatts were equally eager to have the Season 7 winner of The Voice join them in Sin City.

“We were so blessed to start out on some great, amazing tours,” band member Joe Don Rooney says. “It’s really, really cool when you take someone that has had that much exposure and put them on a big tour and to go out and just watch them."

Neither Rascal Flatts nor Boyd will spend much time relaxing now that the Vegas residency is over. The Flatts will begin their Riot Tour 2015, featuring special guest Scotty McCreery, at the end of May, and Boyd has a calendar full of concert dates, all of which are available on his website.
