As a teenager, Craig Morgan could have tagged along to work with his dad, a studio musician who played with several country music greats. Instead, the youngster chose to go hunting and fishing.

"Oh, I laugh about it now," Craig tells the Pensacola News Journal. "I missed out on a lot of valuable knowledge back then, but I guess I'm making up for it."

The country singer does have fond memories of hanging out with his father at the Jingo Jamboree in Tennessee. "I was six or seven years old. Dad would pull me up on stage to sing 'Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head,'" Craig remembers. "They'd give me a quarter, and I thought that was pretty cool."

Still, Craig initially thought music would just be something he did for fun, while he made a career out of something else. All that changed in 2002 when he had a hit with 'Almost Home.' "I'd had singles out before that, but that gave me a lot more confidence," he says. "It just seemed to lead to more and more success."

Craig is about to embark on a summer tour, which kicks off June 6 in Grand Island, Neb. He will travel to a variety of fairs, festivals, casinos and theatres throughout the summer months.
