Chris Young can scratch one thing off of his bucket list this Sunday (February 13), when he attends the Grammy Awards as a nominee in the Male Country Vocal Performance category for his song 'Gettin' You Home.'

"I went as a kid, I actually got to go to the Grammys, and it was such a cool thing for me," Chris tells The Boot. "It was always in the back of my mind in my checklist of things I had wanted to do before I died, to be nominated and go to the Grammys. Being there this weekend and being a part of the whole thing is a little extra special because I've been there before and I've seen everybody else do it, from a fan perspective, and I'll still be a fan. I'll still be in there freaking out about who all is there, and then I get to be a part of it this time, so it's gonna be a little different for me."

Chris was actually chosen to perform during the Grammy festivities while still attending high school, but it turns out the trip was as memorable for the weather as it was for the actual musical experience. "NARAS [National Academy of Recording Arts and Scienes] does a Grammy jazz choir every year, and I was one of six people in high school that they picked to do this," he explains. "I went up and played the 'CBS Morning Show' and it was the year it snowed so bad in New York, so we actually got stuck."

Chris' Grammy nod is just one of a long list of career highlights for the Tennessee native. "Everything's just really been so amazing, not just this past year but the year before that, too," he says. "These last couple of years have really just been huge for me, and if you look at where I was a couple of years ago and what was going to happen to me as an artist, [thinking] 'Am I gonna stay on the label? Are we gonna have a hit? Is this not gonna work?'"

Fast forward to today, and Chris is looking at a No. 1 single with 'Voices,' a Grammy nomination and a tour slot with Rascal Flatts: proof of what a difference 24 months can make. "Now having 'Voices' become a really big hit, going in to make a new record, having the Grammy nomination, everything's just really turned around," he says. "It's been so amazing, and it really did start with that song. To be nominated for that really is extra special."
