Chris Stapleton Shares New Single, ‘Traveller’ [LISTEN]
Chris Stapleton fans still have a couple months to wait for the release of his debut solo album, but the singer is giving listeners a preview of what's to come with the release of the record's title track, "Traveller."
Stapleton is well known for his songwriting; fans have heard his pen at work on tracks for Kenny Chesney, George Strait, Luke Bryan, Adele, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley and more. He already has five No. 1 songs under his belt, including Bryan's recent hit "Drink a Beer," but his solo effort will give him a chance to prove himself in a new way.
"Traveller" highlights Stapleton's vocals with the help of female harmonies and a steel guitar. If it's any indication of what the rest of the album will be like, it's pure country, without any gimmicks or over-production.
“This record was made standing on the shoulders of friends, family and heroes,” Stapleton says. “I hope people enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.”
Stapleton's first solo track, "What Are You Listening To," was released back in 2013, with the intent of it being the lead single from this upcoming album, but the song didn't end up making the cut. Traveller's track listing is available here.
Traveller is set for release via Mercury Records on May 5. Stapleton is joining Little Big Town's Pain Killer Tour in March, before hitting the road with Eric Church on his Outsiders World Tour.
