Pop and country once again collided on the CMA Awards stage on Wednesday night (Nov. 13): Chris Stapleton and Pink joined forces for a performance of "Love Me Anyway."

Stapleton's husky vocals backed up Pink's before the orchestral revision of "Love Me Anyway" turned into a soulful duet. On paper, Stapleton not blowing away the crowd with blues-rock guitar licks reads like a miss, but that wasn't necessary for this gorgeous arrangement.

"Love Me Anyway" was co-written by Pink, Allen Shamblin and Thomas Douglas, and is featured on the pop star's most recent record, Hurts 2B Human. Her and Stapleton's 2019 CMA Awards collaboration was the first televised performance of the song, but the two previously performed the track together in May, during Pink's concert at New York City's Madison Square Garden.

In 2017, Pink earned a CMA Awards Musical Event of the Year nomination for "Setting the World on Fire," a collaboration with Kenny Chesney. Stapleton, meanwhile, first made CMA Awards headlines in 2015, when he performed "Tennessee Whiskey" and "Drink You Away" with pop heavy-hitter Justin Timberlake. This year, Stapleton is up for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Single of the Year, for "Millionaire," a song from his 2017 LP From a Room: Vol. 2.
