It’s a Boy for Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley and Wife Cassie
In early August, Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley and his wife, Cassie McConnell Kelley, revealed that they will soon welcome their first child into their family -- and now, they've shared, they know that it will be a baby boy.
Kelley and his wife revealed their baby's gender on Good Morning America on Friday (Aug. 28), as part of the show's "fertility week" series.
"I was so excited to announce on the show that we are having a baby BOY!" McConnell Kelley wrote on her Womanista website after the segment aired, adding in parentheses "AHH, I can't believe it!"
Baby Boy Kelley is due in February, but it wasn't an easy road to conceiving for the couple. As McConnell Kelley acknowledged in her pregnancy announcement, and as she discussed on GMA, she and Kelley struggled with fertility issues, even discovering that they had just a 1 percent chance of conceiving naturally.
"We're thankful. We're so -- blessed isn't a strong enough word," McConnell Kelley said on Good Morning America. "We were up against some incredible odds, and it still happened."
Still, McConnell Kelley admits that she is grateful for the time she and her husband had together on their own.
“I think back over the past six years of our marriage and am grateful for the time that Charles and I have had together, just the two of us,” she says. “I’m grateful for the adventures that we’ve been on, the places we’ve visited, the lazy days we’ve lounged away on the couch together, the late nights spent on the bus talking about our dreams over a bottle (or two!) of wine. I know all of that will change once our little screaming bundle arrives, but our bond that was built during those precious moments will not. God knows us, and he knows our marriage, and he blessed us in just the right time.”
The Kelleys' baby will join Hillary Scott‘s 2-year-old little girl, Eisele Kaye Tyrrell, and Dave Haywood‘s son, Cash Van Haywood, who will turn in early September.
