The CMA Awards are less than a week away, and since Brad Paisley is co-hosting the show and is nominated for five awards, including the coveted Entertainer of the Year, chances are he'll have something to celebrate after the ceremony. But while many of his fellow nominees may raise a glass in victory, or drown their sorrows in defeat, Brad, a self-proclaimed tee-totaler, will do neither, which makes his recent encounter with the police fairly ironic.

"I got pulled over the other day for suspected DUI," Brad reveals to ABC's 'Nightline.' "That's so funny because I've never drank. I don't drink at all."

The proud father had just taken his two sons, 4-year-old Huck and 2-year-old Jasper, out to get ice cream. So the police encounter made the boys' sugar high all the more sweet.

"My kids, it was the greatest thing that ever happened," Brad recalls with a smile. "They ran through the house when we got home telling everybody, 'Daddy got arrested!'"

Fortunately, the 'Alcohol' singer was not arrested and can go on with prepping for his CMA hosting gig. In addition to his nod for Entertainer of the Year, Brad's other nominations include Album, Male Vocalist, Musical Event and Music Video of the Year. He and his 'Remind Me' duet partner, Carrie Underwood, are co-hosting the show for the fourth consecutive year.

The 45th Annual CMA Awards will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 9, at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
