Kacey Musgraves Wins Best Country Solo Performance for ‘Butterflies’ at the 2019 Grammy Awards
The Best Country Solo Performance category at the 2019 Grammy Awards showcased both legends and rising stars of country music. This year, the competition in the category was fierce, including powerhouse vocalist Chris Stapleton, versatile superstar Maren Morris, guitar heavyweight Keith Urban and even iconic country performer Loretta Lynn.
However, Kacey Musgraves won out in the category. The Golden Hour superstar has won Best Country Solo Performance at the 2019 Grammy Awards for her tender love song, "Butterflies." The trophy was awarded to during the pre-telecast Premiere Ceremony on Sunday night (Feb. 10). Musgraves is also nominated for Best Country Album and Album of the Year, both for Golden Hour, at the Grammys this year.
Musgraves wasn't on hand to receive the trophy, which the Recording Academy accepted on her behalf. Musgraves was also nominated for Best Country Song, and her song "Space Cowboy" won that honor.
Musgraves is performing during the Sunday evening ceremony as part of a tribute to Dolly Parton, alongside her fellow nominee Morris and country superstar group Little Big Town. Other country stars performing over the course of the evening include country duo Dan + Shay as well as Brandi Carlile. Both Carlile and Dan + Shay were nominated for their first Grammy trophies in 2019.
