By now we all know Willie Nelson's main political agenda: "Legalize it!" And by "it," just so we're clear, he means cannabis -- aka marijuana. The country icon has been busted multiple times for possession. After his latest ordeal last fall, when U.S. Border Patrol in Texas found six "forgotten" ounces on his tour bus, Willie formed the National Teapot Party. You can guess the gist of their platform.

On Tuesday (May 17), the singer/songwriter announced the party's first endorsement: Republican presidential candidate Gary Johnson. The two had a meeting last week and discovered they have much common ground, especially when it comes to drug policy. "I advocate legalizing marijuana," says a statement by Johnson on his campaign website. "Control it, regulate it, tax it!"

As for Willie's endorsement, Johnson -- a former Governor of New Mexico -- points out that the two have more in common than just their views of what's a brewing in the so-called teapot. "Not only is Willie a superstar talent, but he is a strong advocate for social change, as seen through his tireless work on behalf of family owned farms and hard working Americans," Johnson states. "People across this country are demanding the freedom and opportunity to pursue their dreams without interference from a heavy-handed government, and Willie and I stand together to lend our voices to those demands."

So...Willie Nelson for Vice-President?
