Students at St. Mary's Catholic School in Cortland, N.Y. welcomed a very special visitor on Tuesday (May 24). Trisha Yearwood performed for students and faculty after the elementary school won the grand prize for Campbell Soup's 'Labels of Education' nationwide contest.

The country star appeared courtesy of Campbell's and the Grammy Foundation in an effort to promote music education in the school systems. Trisha spoke fondly of her love of music at a young age.

"That music class you take might be the thing that makes you say in the fourth grade, 'Hey! This is cool, I like to do this!'" Trisha remarks. "You might discover a talent that you didn't know you had."

Labels for Education also awarded students with 100,000 bonus points to help buy music equipment and art supplies.

Trisha is not the only country artist to use her celebrity status as a social awareness tool. Check out The Boot's 'Country Stars Give Back' feature.
