Sam Hunt is getting used to hearing large crowds cheering for him and singing his songs with him, but the audience he performed for on Sunday (July 19) was one of the biggest yet. Hunt was Taylor Swift's surprise special guest during her second 1989 World Tour stop at Chicago's Soldier Field.

Hunt is spending his summer on the road as an opening act on Lady Antebellum's Wheels Up 2015 Tour, which played in Atlanta on Saturday (July 18). With his time off between that show and one scheduled for Thursday (July 23) in Wisconsin, the "House Party" singer jetted to the Windy City to perform his hit "Take Your Time" with Swift, who called Hunt "the coolest thing that country music has going on."

The two stars began the tune while seated on a park bench at center stage, with Swift adding harmonies during the chorus. Later on, they walked the stage's runway and had the crowd waving their hands back and forth to the song. Press play on the video above to see the performance.

"Before I bring your surprise performer out, I want you to take this into account: Anyone that you see on this stage is here absolutely for free, out of the kindness and goodness of their heart, because they love you and wanted to surprise you," Swift told the crowd before introducing Hunt. "[So,] if you're thinking about screaming a medium amount when this performer comes out, I think you want to really consider, and upgrade into, like, a psychotic scream."

Swift went on to remind the crowd of the "very little-known fact" that she got her start as a country artist -- "That's actually not a little-known fact at all; I'm actually very proud that I started out in country music," she added, just in case anyone didn't pick up on the sarcasm -- and told them that, despite her switch to pop music, she still keeps tabs on what's going on in the country world "because I love it."

Hunt isn't the first country artist to be one of Swift's surprise special guests during her current tour: During a June concert in Pittsburgh, Little Big Town came out to perform "Pontoon."
