Taylor Swift took Jay Leno's hot seat on 'The Tonight Show' Monday night (Feb. 20). The country superstar and star of the upcoming film, 'The Lorax,' talked to the late night funnyman about everything from 'Mean' critics to how men can oftentimes make her 'stupid.' Read highlights from Taylor's 'Tonight Show' interview below:

On how love can make her lose her head a little bit: "I'm a Sagittarius, and one of our major qualities is that we're blindly optimistic. So when I'm in love, I'm just stupid about it! And I trust people ... constantly. And then I always am like, 'I'm not gonna trust people anymore, I'm gonna be one of those dark twisty girls that guys love because they're all guarded.' And then I just trust people again!"

On whether or not she has a 'type': "I don't think I do, actually. My friends are always pointing that out. They're like, 'You are so all over the place.' I have no type, but that makes it fun! You never know who you're going to meet and when you're going to meet them. I have this romantic idea of just meeting someone ... bumping into them or something. I do go to the grocery store a lot -- that's where it's going to happen!"

On her double-Grammy winning song, 'Mean': "A lot of people think I wrote it about being bullied in high school. But I actually wrote this song about a critic who kept giving me really bad reviews. Nothing ruins your day more than getting a bad review. And then there's the scathing review, which is past constructive criticism -- it's more into like 'I hate you' territory, which is mean! I do get my feelings hurt; you never really do get thick skin for that sort of thing. It got me down for a long time, and the only way I could get myself to feel semi-better about it was to sing this melody in my head ... and then it won two Grammys, so now I feel better!"

On her role in Dr. Seuss' 'The Lorax': "It's so fun to get to jump into the whole animated movie process, because I've always been fascinated by how they actually build the movie from the ground up. They're building the characters as you're doing the voiceovers. It's really interesting. I play Audrey, who is such a daydreamer; she's such a lovely character. She's actually named after Dr. Seuss' wife, Audrey. The main character, played by Zac Efron -- he's the boy next door and falls in love with her. She loves trees and wants to find one, because they live in a society where they no longer exist. So, she's sort of the catalyst for the way the whole movie turns out."

On her Vogue magazine cover: "I am so happy about that! That's something I've wanted to happen for my whole life ... That's Vogue! I loved the whole shoot, working with the coolest photographer, stylist ... They said, 'We think we're gonna cut your hair.' And I was all, 'OK!' And they did. And then they said, 'And we're gonna put a hat on you.' And I'm like, 'OK!' Because it's Vogue, you just say 'OK'!"
