Steel Magnolia Tour Will Be ‘Little Bit of Everything’ This Summer
Steel Magnolia, the duo comprised of Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones, is ready to hit the road again. Their latest trek, which kicks off May 18 at the Lilac Festival in Rochester, NY, will include festivals, headlining dates and opening gigs for Reba McEntire and Gretchen Wilson. It's a welcome return to the place where the pair feel most at home.
"For us, this music isn't complete until we're playing it for people," says Joshua. "The fans have been one of the biggest things that have kept us going over the last several months -- and we can't wait to get back on the road and see everybody at the shows."
"And it's nice to have such a crazy variety of concert situations," adds Meghan. "We get a little bit of everything we like: the big outdoor festivals, some arts centers and theaters, a few shows with killer performers like Reba McEntire and Gretchen Wilson, a winery, a Hard Rock and even an amusement park. It's shaping up to be our little bit of everything summer tour!"
The tour news and word of a new album is good news for fans who have been wondering about the fate of the couple who announced their engagement last June. Shortly thereafter, Joshua entered rehab in September to address substance abuse issues, causing Meghan to finish their stint on Reba's All the Women I Am tour with James Otto filling in. In January, the duo left their label, Big Machine Records, and rumors of a breakup began swirling.
Although they have yet to publicly confirm the current state of their personal relationship, Steel Magnolia has signed with new management, and are in talks with a Grammy-winning producer to work on their upcoming project. They insist the new album with reflect a more accurate picture of themselves as a duo.
"We couldn't believe how much love we received from all the radio stations at the ACM Awards remote in Vegas," says Meghan. "People wanted to know when we were going in the studio, what it was going to sound like ... It was kind of amazing to realize how much the radio guys cared about what we were doing musically!"
