Steel Magnolia's Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones were engaged almost two years before the media caught wind of their impending nuptials. So how did the country duo keep their engagement secret for so long? The answer is simple: we never asked!

"It's funny, we have been engaged for a while," Joshua tells The Boot. "We didn't intentionally keep it under wraps; it was just something that we never really came out and talked about. I just mentioned in an interview that we were looking at next summer to get married, and it was like, 'OK, I guess that's the official announcement!'"

That interview was with Country Weekly magazine, which reported that the groom-to-be would like to tie the knot on July 10, 2012, sharing his wedding day with his birthday!

"He just thinks July 10 because of his birthday," Meghan quips to Country Weekly, "and I'm going, 'Well, do you know if it's a Saturday? Is it a Tuesday?' He doesn't think about those things."

Joshua gave Meghan his great-grandmother's antique engagement ring prior to winning CMT's 'Can You Duet' back in 2009. Since then, the singers certainly have had little time to plan a wedding, as they recorded and released their debut album and hit the road on Brad Paisley's tour, along with countless radio tours. And then there's a bad habit to which the couple admit.

"We're both bad procrastinators," Joshua laments.

"We're terrible," Meghan confirms. "We went to Vegas for the ACM [Awards], and we went to dinner and we're sitting there with our friends. We're like, 'We should just go get married. Why not?'"

Joshua gives the funny answer to 'why not?': "We ate too much!"

Meghan and Joshua tell The Boot that wedding logistics are still up in the air, but the bride-to-be, who is quite a fashionista, is excited to look at wedding dresses. "We have to set a date first," she insists. "But if Vera Wang calls, I'll answer!"

With as happy as they are in their love lives, the two are still quite convincing on their new single, 'Bulletproof,' which is a post-breakup, female-empowerment song. Watch them perform it live, and you'd think they're living the lyrics. "Getting so lost in the music and the moment, performing it in front of the audience and wanting them to feel the emotion of the song -- that's what inspires me," Joshua explains of being able to convey emotion through lyrics he's not necessarily living.

"And you do have to act a little bit, taking on that character," Meghan adds.

The duo will be playing the 'Bulletproof' character on Reba's upcoming fall tour. Check out their concert schedule here, and read more of our chat with Steel Magnolia here.
