Shania TwainShania Twain is making her way back into the spotlight. The singer has been on a career hiatus these past few years, choosing to focus on her family. But in the wake of her recent divorce from producer Mutt Lange (after reports of his alleged affair with the couple's close friend Marie-Anne Thiebaud), Shania has now found inspiration to write and sing again. The singer is now ready to return to her eager fans, and she's using her new reality show as the first step.

"I feel like in a way I'm starting over, with everything," she tells Oprah Winfrey (quote via PEOPLE magazine). "This is a very personal experience that I think is important to share. This is an experience of recovery. I was in a very deep, dark slump, and I needed to find a way to get myself out of it. I had to force myself back out into life, back out into experiencing things."

Happily dating Frederic Thiebaud -- who was married to Marie-Anne when the rumored affair occurred, Shania admits there was a time when she wondered if she would ever be in a relationship again. "There were moments when I really just thought, 'I don't need anything and I don't need anyone,'" she reveals. "'I just want to go away and disappear. So, that was a bad slump."

Now writing songs for a new album, in addition to filming the reality show, the multiple Grammy-winning singer says going through heartbreak and betrayal changed her forever. "There's a lot of recovery to accomplish," she admits. "I'm not there yet. I'm on my way there. I'm not sure I'll ever be there."

While every day can still be a struggle, including learning to be a single mom to eight-year old son Eja, Shania reveals the one question she was asked that gave her the motivation to move forward with her life. "One day, someone said to me, 'Do you want to jump out of an airplane?' I felt like I had nothing to lose anymore, so I said, 'Why not?' And ever since then, I ask myself that question."

The singer's new show, titled 'Why Not? With Shania Twain,' will premiere in January 2011 on Oprah's new cable network, OWN.
