Rosanne Cash Awarded Best Americana Album at the 2015 Grammy Awards
Rosanne Cash made it three for three at the 2015 Grammy Awards when she won Best Americana Album, for 'The River & the Thread,' the highest-charting album of her career.
"Ray Charles said that you're a better singer at 50 than you are at 30 because your whole life shows up in your voice, and I just have to second the wise words of Ray Charles," Cash said after winning her third Grammy in a matter of minutes, following earlier wins for Best American Roots Performance and Best American Roots Song. She went on to thank her children and "everyone who bought this record and didn't steal it."
‘The River & the Thread’ features production from John Leventhal and guest appearances from John Paul White of the Civil Wars, Kris Kristofferson, John Prine and others. This marks Cash's first win in the Best Americana Album category; she had previously been nominated in 2011, for 'The List.'
Cash emerged from an impressive lineup of nominees, including Nickel Creek, John Hiatt, Keb' Mo' and Sturgill Simpson.
