On Monday (Aug. 19), the Country Music Association revealed the big news that longtime host Carrie Underwood would return to the 2019 CMA Awards stage without her usual co-host Brad Paisley by her side. Instead, Paisley's duties will fall to Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire, as part of an evening that will celebrate country music's legendary women.

Paisley has said he's looking forward to seeing the onstage chemistry between these three superstars on the big night, and he's not alone: Between McEntire, Parton and Underwood, the possibilities for collaboration, comedy and much more are endless. There is, however, one obvious question -- does McEntire's new co-hosting gig mean she won't be returning to her longtime hosting duties in 2020 for the ACM Awards?

Per Billboard, it's impossible to know at this point. The magazine reports that a source has told them that "no deal is in place for [McEntire] to come back" for the ACMs, although "nothing [is] determined yet."

Billboard adds that the Academy of Country Music agrees that it's unclear who will host the ceremony net year. "We haven't confirmed our host yet for 2020," a representative for the ACM Awards said, without speaking specifically to McEntire's longstanding role in the awards show.

When McEntire hosted the 2019 ACM Awards, it marked her 19th non-consecutive year helming the ceremony. She hosted the show for the first time in 1986, when she co-hosted alongside Mac Davis and The Dukes of Hazzard's John Schneider. After a handful of sporadic hosting gigs in the years that followed, McEntire reigned as host between 2001 and 2012, co-hosting with Blake Shelton for the last two of those years. After a break, she reclaimed her spot in 2018.

Nominees for the 2019 CMA Awards will be announced on Aug. 28. The show itself is scheduled for Nov. 13, and will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on ABC at 8PM ET.
