In March, we reported that ABC had picked up the pilot of a new musical drama series, "Nashville," a family soap set in Music City. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has ordered the one-hour show for its 2012/2013 season.

The series will be filmed in Nashville and stars Hayden Panettiere ("Heroes") as breakout musical sensation Juliette Barnes, as well as Connie Britton ("Friday Night Lights") as Rayna, the 40-year-old superstar mother of two, who has been forced to tour with the up-and-comer.

Previously announced cast members include Eric Close ("Without a Trace") as Rayna's loyal husband, along with Powers Boothe ("24"), Sam Palladio ("The Hour'), Clare Bowen ("Home and Away"), Jonathan Jackson ("General Hospital") and Robert Wisdom ("The Wire").

Callie Khouri, who won an Oscar for writing "Thelma & Louise," has partnered with R.J. Cutler -- who directed the show's pilot -- to write and executive produce "Nashville."

Also on ABC's docket is Reba's "Malibu Country." The show is a half-hour, multi-camera comedy in which the songstress plays as a divorced mom of three who moves from Nashville to Malibu, Calif., after discovering her rock-star husband was cheating on her.

No word yet on either series premiere, but expect to see both on ABC this fall.
