CMA Awards Female Vocalist of the Year nominee Miranda Lambert took the stage at the 51st annual Country Music Association Awards in Nashville on Wednesday night (Nov. 8) to perform a faithful version of her song, "To Learn Her." The track appears on Lambert's critically acclaimed 2016 double album, The Weight of These Wings.

Performing on a stage set that resembled an old-school ballroom--complete with a crystal chandelier -- Lambert exuded sophistication and confidence throughout.

In fact, with her short, fringed black dress and giant diamond hoop earrings, Lambert looked like a glamorous old-school country singer. She sounded like one, too: The perennial CMA Awards nominee subtly played up the twangy side of her voice and sang with deliberate enunciation.

Smartly, she and her band kept the song's sparse arrangement, highlighted by a bridge emphasizing pedal steel and saloon-style piano. As the song came to an end, Lambert added pointed vocal flourishes, which highlighted the song's theme of a broken romantic bond.

Unsurprisingly, Lambert drew a standing ovation at the end of from the crowd.

The Weight of These Wings was Lambert's first album since her highly publicized divorce from Blake Shelton.

“Every record I’ve ever made has been a reflection of where I am right then in my life, however old I am. And I’ve never held back at all,” Lambert explains. “But this time, with what I happened to be going through in my life, being honest was never really a choice. Everybody knew anyway. So I just said, I’m gonna journal it, and — good days and bad days — use it for my art.”

At the 2017 CMA Awards, Lambert received nominations in the Single of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year, Music Video of the Year and Album of the Year categories. In 2018, she is set to hit the road for her Livin' Like Hippies Tour.
