Martina McBride Reserves the Right to Un-‘Wine’
After a long hard day, it's common to need something a little stronger than water to wash away your stress. Despite her star status, Martina McBride knows this as well as anyone. As she sings in her current single, 'Teenage Daughters,' which laments the plight of parents, "I think I need a drink." This leads one to wonder, what is in the songstress' glass?
"Well, it depends on the occasion," Martina tells The Boot. "I do love tequila, but usually the easiest thing to do is a glass of wine."
Red or white? "Again, it depends," she laughs. "I like it all. I'm not picky."
The mom of three girls, Martina understands first hand that parents don't always know best.
"None of us are perfect," she tells The Boot. "There are days when I'm a really fantastic mother, [laughs] where I wish the cameras were rolling. It's 'I've really got it all together today.' And there are times when I don't get it right. That's the thing -- you don't have a handbook, you're just kind of winging it and trying to figure it out as you go along. We all come to it with our own life experiences. So, if I ever snap at them or make them feel bad for some reason or another or lose my patience, that makes me feel bad. That's a mother's guilt; that's another universal theme, which we probably need to write a song about. [laughs] It never goes away. It's is part of being a mother ... the hardest part."
But Martina prefers concentrating on the perks of parenthood. "It's so much fun," she gushes. "We have our moments, but generally speaking, I got really lucky. The girls are so fun, sweet and respectful, and they're just really good girls."
