Little Big Town are gearing up for the release of their new album, 'The Reason Why,' their first in three years. The band decided to take a break from the road to get their minds wrapped around what they needed to accomplish for the new project.

"We worked really hard on it, for us and for the fans," Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild told The Boot at the quartet's recent Ride for a Cure charity motorcycle event. "We envision them singing these songs back to us. We took our time and came off the road. It's the first time we've come off the road and said, 'No. We're going to sit and write and be focused and clear-minded when we make this record.' It gave us a chance to be really focused about the direction of the record ... and it's been great."

Their new album is the follow-up to 2007's 'A Place to Land,' and the foursome were anxious to get back to work. "It's been so long since we've put music out," explains Jimi Westbrook. "You go that long and it just builds up, and there was a super amount of creativity and inspiration, and it was just time. We were just ready. It wasn't necessarily a matter of having to work so hard, it was like we wanted to. It was time."

Karen agrees, saying, "We could make another record right now. Honestly, the band's in such a good creative space, it almost feels like we should go ahead and put another one in the can. But we're touring right now, getting ready for this one to come out [laughs]."

'The Reason Why' features the hit, 'Little White Church,' which is currently making its way up the country charts. The album is scheduled to drop August 24.
