Lauren Alaina channeled her grandmother's personality during her Monday night (Nov. 4) Dancing With the Stars performance. The country singer and dance partner Gleb Savchenko performed a jive to "Hound Dog," originally made famous by Elvis Presley -- her nana's favorite artist.

Ahead of her performance, Alaina called her grandmother "the sassiest woman I ever met," adding, "and if I can even have a teeny, tiny bit of that, we're gonna nail it." Although DWTS judge Bruno Tonioli told Alaina that "the King himself would have loved the performance," the judges all pointed out a few mistakes that the singer made during the dance, including losing her place in the routine at one point.

Despite her missteps, Alaina and Savchenko received three eights from the Dancing With the Stars judges, for a total score of 24. During judging, Alaina was emotional, telling viewers that she hoped very much to stay in the competition (although she's dancing with injured ribs, as she revealed during Week 7 (Oct. 28) of the competition).

In addition to Alaina, Season 28's Dancing With the Stars cast includes actors James Van Der Beek and Kate Flannery, former Bachelorette contestant Hannah Brown, comedian Kel Mitchell and more. The show pairs celebrities with professional dancers, with the pairings competition in an elimination-style competition until a winner is crowned at the end of the season.

Alaina is far from the first country artist to compete on Dancing With the Stars: Wynonna JuddChuck WicksSara EvansBilly Ray Cyrus, and Jana Kramer also previously appeared on the show. Kellie Pickler won the show back in 2013, while country radio DJ Bobby Bones won the show's 27th season in 2018; in fact, it was Bones who convinced Alaina to accept the competitor spot.
