Laura Bell Bundy to Star in New ABC Family Show
Laura Bell Bundy has taken on a new TV role. The singer, dancer and actress will play Monica, a reality TV producer, in a new ABC Family drama called Recovery Road.
According to Us Weekly, Bundy's character -- and her cameras -- will enter the Springtime Meadows rehab facility, causing a disruption among its residents. Bundy will have a recurring role throughout the latter half of the first season of the series, which is set to premiere in 2016. Recovery Road, which is based on a novel of the same name by Blake Nelson, also stars Jessica Sula, Daniel Franzese, Sharon Leal and Kyla Pratt.
The Kentucky native, who has previously starred in shows such as Anger Management, How I Met Your Mother and Hart of Dixie, as well as on Broadway in Legally Blonde: The Musical, says that she is always looking for opportunities to perform.
“I love entertainment, and I love entertaining people,” Bundy tells The Boot. “I love every aspect, from the conception of an idea, whether it’s an idea for a song, and then you write the song, and then the production of the song, and then directing the video and writing the video. So I absolutely think that my past has helped, the things that I’ve done in the past have helped, and my performances, too.”
Bundy's latest album, Another Piece of Me, was released in June on Big Machine Label Group.
“I think that you always hope that your album is received well by other people,” she says. “And, there were some additional added pieces to the record, and you hope that it feels consistent all around. But I’m also really happy to get music out to my fans, and I’m also not concerned with what people think as much as I have been in the past.”
