With just days remaining until the release of their highly-anticipated third album, 'Own the Night,' out September 13, Lady Antebellum have released 'Wanted You More' to iTunes as an album preview track. The tune, written by the trio along with four of their road band members, currently sits at No. 10 on iTunes' all-genre digital download chart.

On writing the melancholy mid-tempo, Lady A's Charlies Kelley recalls, "We started that idea during a soundcheck out on the road. So, we wrote that with honestly all the guys that are out there in our band on the road. So it's a seven [member] co-write. There was something really strong about that lyric, 'Wanted You More.'

"We were in the studio, and this is kind of how these little great little melody things come out and different kind of hooks come out while you're in there working on these songs," he adds. "Slim, our guitar player, started playing that little guitar riff that opens up the song. And we knew that we wanted that to be a signature of the song. So production wise, that's probably the song I'm most proud of on the record. Paul [Worley, producer] and all the players did a really great job on that one."

Following the success of their recent No. 1, 'Just a Kiss,' the trio has released 'We Owned the Night' as the official second radio single from the collection. The tune, which sits at No. 21 only three weeks after its release, is another that Charles and fellow band member Dave Haywood had a hand in writing. Charles explains why it was the logical follow up to 'Just a Kiss.'

"One of the main reasons is the live feel to it. It had kind of an urgency and an excitement to it that we wanted to represent this record. 'Just A Kiss' is very Lady A, and 'We Owned the Night' is kind of a departure for us in a way, just the sound of it is very mandolin-heavy and it's got a lot of different organic elements, which is really exciting for us to go down that road. But I think more than anything, the message of it -- owning the night --we thought it would be a great, great thing."

In promotion for the release, the trio will embark on an intense media blitz, which includes television appearances on the 'Today Show' (Sept. 13), the 'Ellen DeGeneres Show' (Sept. 16), the 'Tonight Show With Jay Leno' (Sept. 16) and 'CBS Sunday Morning' (Sept. 25). Lady A will also provide the musical entertainment for the Oct. 1 'Saturday Night Live' episode.

Lady Antebellum will resume their heavy travel schedule on November 11 for their latest headlining tour. Click here for dates and ticket information.
