Lady Antebellum’s ‘Honey’ Hits the Million Mark

Lady Antebellum had more than a million reasons to celebrate even before they earned their five Grammys on Sunday (February 13). The trio, who swept the awards ceremony with the most trophies of any nominees, also saw their No. 1 hit, 'American Honey,' reach platinum status this week in digital downloads. They joined several other artists in being officially recognized for their achievement by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) as part of a pre-Grammy celebration on February 11.

Other country celebs honored for scoring platinum-worthy downloads include Carrie Underwood for her hit, ''Undo It,' Taylor Swift for 'Mine' and Miranda Lambert's Grammy-winning tune, 'The House That Built Me.' In addition, Kenny Chesney's song, 'Somewhere With You' and Jason Aldean's 'My Kinda Party' received gold certification for their digital downloads.

Jason is also celebrating the sales of more than one million copies of his latest album, 'My Kinda Party' -- an impressive feat considering the CD hit shelves less than three months ago. Sugarland join Jason at the million mark, with their 'Incredible Machine' going platinum, bringing their career sales total to more than nine million. Meanwhile, Tim McGraw's 'Number One Hits' and Keith Urban's 'Get Closer' each sold more than 500,000 copies.

Carrie remains the reigning country star for sales and downloads, according to the RIAA. The 'American Idol' winner has achieved more than seven million sales of her debut album, 'Some Hearts,' and has seen all three of her albums, including 'Play On' achieve double-platinum status or higher.

Several of the recently-certified platinum-selling artists, including Taylor, Sugarland and Carrie were also the biggest money-makers of 2010. See Billboard's complete list of music's top earners here.
