Kris Kristofferson is coming soon to a theater near you. The country music icon has starred in dozens of films, including 'Payback' with Mel Gibson, 'He's Just Not That Into You' with Drew Barrymore and Jennifer Aniston and his Golden Globe-winning performance in 'A Star Is Born' with Barbra Streisand. Now, the 74-year old will hit the silver screen with yet another all-star cast in 'Dolphin Tale.'

The upcoming movie, which also stars Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman and Harry Connick, Jr., is a family-friendly flick, based on the true story of a dolphin named Winter, who was rescued by the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Florida. The film, rumored to be in 3-D, appealed to Kristofferson for reasons other than flexing his acting chops. "I am really working on trying to pitch [Harry Connick, Jr.] some songs," he jokes to Nashville Lifestyles magazine.

The recipient of multiple awards and accolades, including three Grammys and an Oscar nomination, the former United States Army Ranger captain says all of his career achievements pale in comparison to his greatest source of pride. "I am humbled by all of the recognition for my work," Kristofferson attests, "but am most proud of the fact that our family has been able to remain strong and close despite my being on the road and frequent separation due to distance."

The singer/actor's family includes wife of 28 years, Lisa Meyers, and eight children -- five with Lisa and three from previous marriages. Those family separations will have to continue for awhile, as the next few months have Kristofferson traveling all across the country, including stops in Denver, Co., Milwaukee, Wis. and Biloxi, Miss.
