Keith Urban Thanks His ‘Sweet Thing’
Keith Urban was the guest of honor at a party last week celebrating another No. 1 song, his latest single 'Sweet Thing.' The country crooner had one person in particular to thank when he took the mic to address partygoers.
"You're my muse and my everything," he said, addressing wife Nicole Kidman. "I know that I wouldn't be back in this place without you. I appreciate and love you so much."
Urban's spot at the top of the charts wasn't the only thing he was celebrating. He was also acknowledged for having eleven separate songs, including 'Sweet Thing,' that have had between one and three million radio spins each -- for a grand total of over 16 million airplays. That's a feat that is almost unheard of in any genre of music.
Urban's 2002 hit, 'Somebody Like You,' alone had three million airplays, which is comparable to such classics as 'Your Cheating Heart' by Hank Williams, Dolly Parton's '9 to 5' and 'Can't Buy Me Love' by the Beatles.
Urban lives with Kidman and their baby girl, Sunday Rose, in Nashville -- halfway around the world from their home in Australia. But he made it clear to fellow Nashvillians at his No. 1 party that he is anything but homesick. "We can live a real life here. We don't need a driver, don't need security," Urban said of life in Music City USA. "It's the real simple stuff that I appreciate immensely."
Urban's new album, 'Defying Gravity,' hits stores March 31.
