Kane Brown made a guest appearance during The Voice's season finale on Tuesday night (May 22), performing his hit "What Ifs" with finalist Spensha Baker. Readers can press play above to watch their performance.

Baker, part of Blake Shelton's team, handled the parts of "What Ifs" originally sung by Lauren Alaina. Baker placed fourth in this season's competition.

Brown and Alaina are longtime friends: Their relationship dates back to middle school, when Brown credits Alaina for bringing him out of his introvert shell enough to try his hand at singing in the first place. However, in mid-April, their performance of "What Ifs" during the 2018 ACM Awards had everyone talking thanks to an unexpectedly intimate moment that came at the end of the song, when the two stood facing each other, so close together that it looked as if they might be about to kiss.

"Thank God it was Kane," Alaina says of the performance, the choreography for which was show producers' idea. "If it had been some other dude or some random guy, I might have put a halt to this. I mean, what if someone had actually kissed me live of television? It would have been a smack in the face."

Still, both parties found the steamy choreography awkward, and Brown says he hasn't even watched footage of the performance since it aired. He is engaged to Katelyn Jae, while Alaina is in a long-term relationship with boyfriend Alex Hopkins.

On Tuesday night, Brown was part of a star-studded lineup for The Voice's season finale. Jason Aldean, Jennifer Hudson, Florence and the Machine and more took the stage before Kelly Clarkson's team member Brynn Cartelli was declared the winner. This season was Clarkson's first as a coach on The Voice, and Cartelli, at just 15 years old, is the youngest winner in the TV singing competition's history.
