Kane Brown Asks for Prayers Following Sister’s Stabbing
Kane Brown is asking his fans for prayers after receiving word that his sister was stabbed multiple times on Tuesday (July 26).
Brown, who is on the road this summer as part of Florida Georgia Line’s 2016 Dig Your Roots Tour, says on Facebook that he was in Nebraska -- across the country from his hometown of Red Bank, Tenn. -- when he heard the news. According to his post, his sister was stabbed four times.
"You better hope I don't find out who you are," Brown writes. "I'm so sick to my stomach right now."
In the comments underneath Brown's post, fans are offering their love and prayers, and naming a Facebook user who goes by Heidi Monshell Nevaeh as Brown's sister. According to WCRB-TV, her real name is Heidi Swafford, and she is 19 years old. The TV station reports that Swafford and another woman were fighting on Tuesday afternoon, around 4:30PM, when she was stabbed in the neck and the shoulder. She was taken to a local hospital, and although her injuries are non-life-threatening, she may have sustained permanent nerve damage.
The Chattanooga Police Department has a warrant out to arrested the woman with whom Swafford was fighting, allegedly a 16-year-old. She has been charged with attempted second degree murder and aggravated assault, but she is not yet in police custody.
After earning a large following online, Brown signed his first major-label record deal with RCA Nashville in January and released his debut major-label EP, Chapter 1, in mid-March. Following his trek with FGL, the singer -- who recently dropped a brand-new single, “Thunder in the Rain” -- will embark on a headlining tour that is set to begin in November and wrap up in January.
