The man who broke into Kacey Musgraves' car on Monday night (Jan. 4) and stole her brand-new boots has been arrested.

Nashville's WKRN-TV reports that 30-year-old Darnell Cunningham was arrested after attempting to return a pair of Lucchese boots that Musgraves had purchased to the Lucchese Boots store on 12th Avenue South -- with the receipt, which had Musgraves' name on it. According to police, the store's manager also recognized the boots as the pair that he had sold to Musgraves.

"Stupidity leads to victory," Musgraves tweeted on Thursday morning (Jan. 7), after the news broke.

The original theft occurred around 9:30PM on Monday, while Musgraves' car was parked across from the venue 3rd and Lindsley. Cunningham broke the car's window (damage is estimated at about $500, per the Tennessean) and stole both the pair of Luccheses as well as a pair of Charlotte Olympias, together valued at around $900.

“Someone had expensive tastes and cheap standards,” Musgraves tweeted after the incident.

Cunningham has been charged with theft of property. His bond was set at $25,000.

In addition to her music career, Musgraves recently released her own line of boots with Lucchese. She will embark on a second leg of her Country & Western Rhinestone Revue tour on Jan. 21. Musgraves’ sophomore album, Pageant Material, dropped in June.
