Kacey Musgraves has announced a new single.

"Biscuits" will be released to country radio on March 16 and available for download on iTunes on March 17. It is the first single from her upcoming sophomore album, to be released on Mercury Nashville.

"I’m very proud to be kickin’ things off with "Biscuits!" I think it’s the perfect preview to the record we had SO much fun making," Musgraves says. "The sound of this song represents so many of the things I love about country music. And be warned -- it may inspire a square dance."

Written by Musgraves, Shane McAnally and Brandy Clark -- the trio behind "Follow Your Arrow," which was named Song of the Year at the 2014 CMA Awards -- "Biscuits" features the "live and let live" theme that's prevalent in many of Musgraves' tunes, set to a peppy melody and conveyed through fun metaphors.

"Just hoe your own row and raise your own babies / Smoke your own smoke and grow your own daisies," Musgraves sings in the chorus. "Mend your own fences and own your own crazy / Mind your own biscuits and life will be gravy."

Musgraves has been performing "Biscuits" since late 2013; watch her sing the song live in the video above. The singer-songwriter says that her new album, which does not yet have a release date, will be "about the songs."

"They say you have your whole life to write your first record and influence that, and this time there’s not as much time there for me to be able to do that," Musgraves says. "I just need to focus on that I’ve found my stride and I’m doing something that makes sense to me. I’m just going to keep doing that.”

Musgraves is currently on the road for her 2015 Same Tour, Different Trailer Tour, with dates scheduled through early April.
