Kacey Musgraves’ ‘Golden Hour’ Wins 2019 Grammy Awards Best Country Album
Golden Hour, from country powerhouse Kacey Musgraves, has won Best Country Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards. Best Country Album is a category that included the cream of the crop in country music at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
The competition was particularly fierce in this category, and Musgraves was in the mix along with Kelsea Ballerini, Brothers Osborne, Ashley McBryde and Chris Stapleton. The country singer seemed genuinely shocked as she got up from her chair and walked towards the stage after presenters Kane Brown and Luke Combs -- both star country performers in their own rights -- called her name.
The trophy was awarded during a televised ceremony on Sunday night (Feb. 10). Musgraves was also nominated in the Best Country Song category for "Space Cowboy" and Best Country Solo Performance for "Butterflies." Both tracks appear on the winning album, which is Musgraves fourth studio project.
Musgraves started her acceptance speech off by saying, "I never dreamed that this record would be met with such love, such warmth, such positivity."
The singer went on to continue that she is so happy to be able to share her version of country music with her fans and the world. She emotionally asked producers Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk, who worked with her on the album, to join her onstage.
Musgraves says that she has her husband to thank for opening her heart and making Golden Hour possible. Before heading onstage, the pair exchanged a loving kiss and moment of appreciation about what just happened.
