Justin Moore is hard at work on his fourth studio album, which will be the follow-up record to 2013's No. 1 project, Off the Beaten Path. Fans are getting a taste of Moore's new music thanks to the upcoming disc's debut single, "You Look Like I Need a Drink," which is only one of several tunes that the singer is eager to share with his fans.

"I’m excited for what we’ve got, and I’m excited to go in and weed through the rest of the songs that we have -- because we have a lot of really, really good songs that I’m excited about -- and figuring out how we want to go in and record those and get that done and get it out there for people," Moore tells The Boot, noting that the project is currently "about halfway done, if not a little more."

With 11 Top 40 songs to his credit, including four No. 1 hits, it may seem as though Moore is adept at finding the perfect songs for his records, but the humble singer says that much of the credit belongs to his wife, Kate.

"She’s been pretty involved," Moore admits. "She’s got a really good ear, and she comes at it from a different perspective than myself or any other artist comes at it: We’re so calculated ... She listens with an unbiased ear, if you will. She just knows if she likes it or not ... and more times than not, she’s been spot on."

In fact, there have been times that Moore hasn't heeded his wife's advice, only to realize too late that she was right.

"There have been songs that she’s wanted me to cut that I didn’t, and they’ve been hits for other people," he concedes. "She always does, ‘I told you. I told you.’"

As for the new, still-untitled record, Moore says that it will still sound like him but will show his evolution and growth as an artist.

"Musically, I think it’s a little more progressive; it’s probably a little more grown-up," he explains. "I think we probably found songs, and I’ve listened to songs, that maybe earlier on in my career I wouldn’t have, for whatever reason. There’s probably a number of reasons why: Style-wise, maybe I didn’t feel I could do this or that early on in my career. The fact that I’ve gotten older and now have a family, children, I listen to different subject matters now.

"On the technical side of things, we used different musicians on this album, which obviously always gives a different feel," Moore continues. "We’ve really had the luxury this time of just taking our time. We’ve always had the mindset, after the last album cycle ended, let’s just make it right. Whenever it’s right, it’s right. We don’t want to put a deadline on it, because the next step in my career is obviously an important one, and we want to make sure we get it right."

The Arkansas native poured his heart and soul into his new record, and already he's confident in the end result.

"I think because we’ve taken the extra time and done some different things in the studio and used some different tools we haven’t in the past ... I think the fans are going to dig it that much more," he says. "I think it sounds a little more mainstream, probably, than some of my stuff in the past. When I came out eight years ago or whatever it was, radio sounded a lot different than it does now. So in order to maintain your spot on the radio, you’ve got to keep evolving with it. We tried to do it more so on this album than the ones in the past."

There is no official release date for Moore's new project; however, the singer is guessing that it will be out in the early summer (though he adds, "That's just a guess. Don't hold me to that").
