Jo Dee MessinaWhen Jo Dee Messina gave birth to her first child, Noah, in January of 2009, she did not realize how much her life would change. She says the biggest surprise about becoming a mother was how much she would love her newborn son.

The pregnancy was not something the singer had planned. "My husband, Chris, and I knew we wanted to have kids, but it was always 'someday,' so when I found out I was expecting, it was a shock," she tells Nashville Parent magazine. "That's when I realized I had to give my parents a break because, like us, they were just two people trying to get through life when I showed up. We think parents are supposed to have all the answers, but they don't. God, don't let me screw it up too bad."

The couple chose their son's name from the Bible. "Noah was ridiculed for building the ark, but he followed his faith no matter what everyone else thought. I want my son to have the courage to follow his faith and his beliefs."

With all this extra love to give, Jo Dee might be thinking of having more children, but she says don't ask until "after I lose this baby weight!"

While she is reveling in motherhood, Jo Dee has also been trying to clean up the destruction left in her home in the wake of last weekend's devastating flood. She appeared on CNN Thursday morning to talk about the tragedy that hit Nashville and the surrounding areas and took the news channel on a tour of some of Music City's most treasured landmarks such as the

Schermerhorn Symphony Center, the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry.
