Jaron, who's now on a musical journey as Jaron and the Long Road to Love, is following up his pop success as one-half of the duo Evan and Jaron with a budding country career. And he's doing it in a pretty interesting way ... in reverse.

After taking a few years off, he decided to reassess his career and when he launched his solo gig, he deliberately planned to do things differently this time around. Instead of ridiculous upfront spending on market testing that might not work, he has opted to do things on the cheap, including spending just $5400 on his single 'Pray for You' and its accompanying video.

"The traditional model is to go to the label, then radio, then the fans, " Jaron tells DigitalMusicNews. "Our model was fans, then radio, then the label. I took this bird's eye view to see what was working and what wasn't working, and I planned to go in the opposite order. The goal is to get a song that's a phenomenon, and transfer that to the artist."

So far, the plan seems to have paid off. Jaron has already sold 140,000 copies of the new single, which has reached the Top 40 on the charts. His full-length album is due in June.
