Hillary Scott Gets ‘Stronger’ Thanks to Sara Evans

Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott is enjoying a second week at the top of the charts with Sara Evans' 'A Little Bit Stronger,' from Sara's album, 'Stronger.' Hillary co-wrote the song with hit tunesmiths Luke Laird and Hillary Lindsey about the aftermath of a breakup and the strength it takes to keep going on with life.

"That song is hands down, probably the most personal song I've ever written," Hillary tells The Boot. "Every time I hear it, it takes me back to that place, which wasn't exactly the most great place. It was a tough, tough lesson I learned but now it's just crazy how things like this can happen. I would go back and have that all happen again to write that song."

Hillary explains why it meant so much to her that Sara thought enough of the song to record it. "I just am a huge fan of her -- have always been," she says. "The song is my story. I went through that, and it's just amazing. It's been so fun."

Watching Sara perform the song live at last month's Academy of Country Music Awards was a huge thrill for Hillary. "She was right there center stage, and we were a couple rows back right in the center. She told me backstage, 'I'm nervous. I'm going to look at you the whole time,'" laughs Hillary. "She did, and I was just singing along. I was like the giddiest little kid."

Her band mates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood helped her celebrate the tune's success, which marked her first chart-topper recorded by another artist. "They brought me a cookie cake to rehearsal ... and some balloons," laughs Hillary.

"That was Dave," Charles interjects. "Dave's the sweetheart. I get to help take credit, though."

While Charles is married and Hillary is in a steady relationship, Dave can't help to ask if he's so sweet, "How am I the single one here?"

Lady Antebellum, who are making their charge up the country charts with 'Just a Kiss,' are set to perform at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards on May 22.
