Guest Room Sessions: Leslie Tom, ‘Didn’t Think Twice’
For The Boot's very first Guest Room Sessions installment of 2017, country singer-songwriter Leslie Tom (along with special guest Kerry Conner) performed Tom's personal, patriotic song "Didn't Think Twice." Readers can press play above to watch.
Frequent readers of The Boot might remember both Tom and the song “Didn’t Think Twice;” the singer-songwriter premiered the tune exclusively on the site a few months ago. The track was inspired by Tom’s grandfather’s service in World War II and her own self-described passion for working with active-duty military and veterans to “help them achieve their goals inside or outside of the service;" to ensure that “Didn’t Think Twice” was honest and reflective of the experience of servicemembers, Tom wrote the song with the help of her father, a war history enthusiast, and Maj. Chris Story, a close friend in the United States Marine Corps.
“I chose "Didn't Think Twice" to play in this session because it's a song that is important to me as an artist and songwriter,” Tom tells The Boot. “Since it raises money for charity, I want to keep it in the forefront of my fans' minds before we release another single.”
Tom’s Guest Room Sessions video was filmed in the home studio of Conner, her frequent co-writer, mentor and bandmate; Tom calls it "a place of comfort and happiness."
We've worked on demos in that space, had a zillion band practices and listened to lots of great music," Tom explains. "It was a natural choice.”
“Didn’t Think Twice” is currently available for download via Tom’s official website. Proceeds from sales of the song will benefit the Travis Manion Foundation, an organization that works with veterans and the families of fallen soldiers.
