Many country artists will say that country fans are the best around, and perhaps no one knows that better than Garth Brooks. Even though his concerts are typically crowded and full of energy, Brooks' fans tend to keep that energy positive -- and nothing exemplifies that more than a show that the singer played in New York City's Central Park in 1997.

"There [were] somewhere between 800,000 and 1.2 million people there, and they've closed down 5th Avenue," Brooks recalls to 102.3 Blake FM. "We're leaving after the gig in the bus, and there's people everywhere, so the bus can only move as fast as the people are walking. There's a cop on horseback, so I open the window, and me and him are talking as we're moving down the street, and he's telling me, of all those people, they had two arrests -- out of all those people, in New York, at night, in Central Park.

"So, I would put the people that come see us against anybody," Brooks adds. "They're just people that want to have fun, sing and love one another, and I dig that."

Brooks is currently gearing up to head back out on the road, for the second leg of his World Tour. After decades of success in the country music industry, he still appreciates that that his fans come out to see him now just as much as he did when he was getting his start.

“I don’t have a clue why these people go through hell all day trying to get all this stuff done and then find time to come sing with us at night and pay that kind of money and spend that kind of time and do those lines to get in," Brooks says“I have no idea why they do it, so if you don’t have any idea why they do it, you don’t know if it’s going to happen again. I’m always nervous, but, man, if you can hear them start to sing by the first or second song of the concert, then you know you’re in for a party, and it’s just going to be great.”
