It's official: Garth Brooks has jumped on the social media bandwagon. The country legend finally has his own Facebook fan page, Twitter handle and Instagram and Vine accounts.

"Ready to make some #FriendsInNewPlaces," Brooks says in his first Facebook post.

"I really wasn't sure about this at the start, but then a friend of mine said something that just made all kinds of sense," he adds in the video attached to the post. "She said, 'Think of it more as a conversation.'"

On Twitter, Brooks' first tweet, naturally, includes a selfie.

Both Brooks' Facebook and Twitter accounts have been accessible for a while; Taste of Country noticed Brooks' Twitter handle set up in July, and his Facebook page has been taggable before today as well. But, much like everything else Brooks does, the official launch was calculated. Of course, his much-anticipated new album, 'Man Against Machine,' drops today (Nov. 11) as well.

"Social media is a very powerful thing," Brooks tells the Star Tribune, "and it needs to be treated carefully."

The 'People Loving People' singer only recently allowed his music to be accessible on digital platforms, with the launch of his own GhostTunes in September.
