Eric Church won his second Album of the Year award at the 2016 CMA Awards on Nov. 2. It was a perfectly full-circle moment for the country rocker, who surprised fans by debuting his winning album, Mr. Misunderstood, the day of the CMA Awards last year.

"I'm not sure what's better -- winning the award or Faith Hill fixing my tie," said Church as he took the stage to accept his award from Hill, who was presenting. "I think it's Faith fixing my tie!"

Although his signature aviators never left his face, Church's genuine gratitude showed through as he took time to thank his wife and his two boys at home, reminding them, "I love you, I love you, I love you." But the biggest person Church had to thank wasn't just one individual -- it was the millions of fans who made Mr. Misunderstood the hit that it was.

"We trusted the fans and we gave it to the fans," Church said, "and it's because of the fans that this happened."

Church's win for Mr. Misunderstood marks a second Album of the Year win for the singer, who also took home the trophy in 2014 for The Outsiders. Church's hit song "Record Year" was also nominated for Song and Single of the Year. On Nov. 4, Church will release a special live album, recorded during two sold-out shows at the historic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in August.
